Abstract:
A great deal of trace fossils occur in the Lower Permian Liangshan Formation, Guangshun, central Guizhou. Those having been recognized are as follows:
Chondrites sp.;
Helminthopsis sigmoideus(sp. nov.);
Keckia annulata;
Lennea sp.;
Palaeophycus tubularis;
Parachomatichnus malinggangensis;
Parachomatichnus sp.;
Planolites annulatus(sp. nov. );
Planolites sp.;
Sabullarifex sp.;
Skolithos sp.;
Teichichnus sp.;
Thalassinoides sp..
This paper describes in detail seven species of the trace fossils, two of which are newly-identi-fied. In terms of the trace fossil assemblages, this paper also deals with ichnofacies in the study area, Leading to the establishment of the ichnofacies
Teichichnus-Planolites which are widely distributed over the zones where the environments are characterized by minor changes and relatively low water body energy at the bottom of the littoral sandy substrates. In summary, the paper has provided abundant new information about ancient sedimentary environments of the trace fossil-bearing strata in this region.
