Abstract:
Plentiful studies have been conducted in the last decades on the stratigraphic sequences, sedimentary characteristics, deformation and metamorphism, provenance and tectonic settings of the Upper Triassic Langjiexue Group (Complex) in the Renbu-Qusong stratigraphic subprovince in the eastern part of the Yarlung Zangbo suture zone, Xizang. The authors in this study present the redivision of the Langjiexue Group (Complex) on the basis of the existing data on the tectono-lithostratigraphy, palaeontology, deformation and tectonic settings, and contend that the Langjiexue Group (Complex) should be composed, from the base upwards, of the Songre, Jiangxiong and Jiedexiu (Zhangcun) Formations (Complex), and display the structural patterns of a "Ω"-type asymmetrical anticlinorium.
