Abstract
Based on the latest geological disaster database and field geological investigation, this paper has done a study about GIS assessments of geologic hazards in Huaying City, Sichuan Province. Eight factors, including slope gradient, slope direction, slope height, the engineering geological group, fault, river impact distance, road and mining activity, are selected as evaluation factors. Based on evaluation factor analyses and GIS data models, the evaluation of geological disaster susceptibility is carried out. The results show, according to the degrees of geologic hazards, the studied area can be divided into high, moderate, low, and extremely low geological hazardous sub-areas, which take an area proportion of 17.31%, 27.63%, 32.66% and 22.40%, respectively. Through testing the off-line area (AUC) by receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), the value is 72.50%, implying our study results can provide a theoretical guidance and technical reference for the evaluation of geological disaster susceptibility in Huaying City.
