Some aspects of continental lithostratigraphic units

    • The distinction of basin types is significant in the check up of both continental and marine lithostratigraphic units. The universal stratigraphic units can only be employed for the same basin types.Modern stratigraphy is typical of higher time resolution(less than 1 Ma),which is especially applicable to the Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata. Therefore the prerequisite for high-resolution stratigraphy is to improve the time coordinates in the study of geology. The high-precision timing techniques may provide convincing evidences for continental stratigraphic division and correlation.
