The correlation of erosion and deposition as a basis for the stratigraphic (division) of continental basins

Abstract
The sharp vertical and horizontal lithologic changes and the lacking of fossils often cause the stratigraphic division of continental basins to be much debated. The deposition in continental basins is always dependent upon the delivery of the basement parent rocks. The correlation of erosion and deposition is thus believed to be very significant in the stratigraphic division of continental basins. The combination of extrabasinal weathering and erosion of parent rocks and intrabasinal deposition may improve the resolution of continental stratigraphic (division), and the understanding of tectonism in the basins.
