    • The strata (besides the Quaternary strata) in the surveyed areas may be grouped into 116 lithostratigraphic units, 14 tectono-stratigraphic units and two ophiolitic tectonic mélanges units. The Niujingshan ophiolitic tectonic mélanges are considered to be correlated to the previous Tongchangjie mélanges as the remnant oceanic crust of the Palaeo-Tethys in western Yunnan. The Shigu ophiolitic tectonic mélanges are recognized in this work. The siliceous rocks, shallow metamorphic basalts and flysch formations of sandstones and slates are observed in several places along the Nujiang fault, and volcanic rocks on the eastern flank of the Lancangjiang fault. The deformational and metamorphosed granites occur on the crystalline basement.
