Sedimentary evolution of the Lower Carboniferous Bachu Formation in the Tarim River area,Xinjiang

More Information
  • Published Date: September 29, 2008
  • In the light of cores, well logs and seismic data, referenced to the tectonic interpretation of the study area, the Lower Carboniferous Bachu Formation in the Tarim River area,Xinjiang has experienced three phases of sedimentary evolution including the braided delta deposits in the early stage, lagoon and salt lake deposits in the middle stage, and salinized lagoon deposits in the later stage. The present paper deals laterally and vertically with the sedimentary evolution, and sedimentary response to the tectonic movements in the Bachu Formation, aiming at providing a scientific basis for future exploration of the Bachu Formation.
