Multifractal characteristics and metallogenic prognosis of the ore-forming elements in the Malipo region,Yunnan

  • The statistical analyses for the stream sediment samples(scale 1:50 000) from the Malipo region,Yunnan show that the main metallic elements W,Sn,Pb,Zn and Cu display not the normal or log-normal distribution but the multifractal distribution. The "C-A"(content-area) multifractal model is presented here to obtain the threshold values of individual elements from 7950 samples of stream sediments. The distribution of residual anomalous values based on the multifractal model apparently represents the distribution of the above-mentioned metallic elements and associated mineral resources. It follows that the results of research in this paper may provide useful evidence of metallogenic prognosis.
