Abstract
The examination of abundant representative fluid inclusions from the Palaeozoic hydrocarbon reservoirs in eastern Tarim Basin,Xinjiang has disclosed that the existence of liquid and gas-liquid hydrocarbon inclusions,salt-water hydrocarbon inclusions and bitumen indicates the hydrocarbon generation in the Yingjisu depression, and hydrocarbon injection on the Gucheng uplift and eastern Tarim low relief. The differences in Raman compositions of the hydrocarbon inclusions from the Milan-1 well and Gucheng-4 well suggest distinct sources of hydrocarbons.Furthermore, the compositional differences in fluid inclusions from the Gucheng-4 well suggest the existence of the confining layers between the Cambrian and Ordovician hydrocarbon reservoirs, and the Cambrian strata in the Gucheng-4 well are relatively favourable for the preservation of hydrocarbons
