Abstract
The Heiniudong copper-zinc deposit in Jiulong,Sichuan as a medium-sized copper-rich deposit in the Jianglang metamorphic core complexes within the Songpan-Garze orogenic zone is hosted in the metamorphic rocks of the pre-Sinian Liwu Group Complex, and controlled by the ring-shaped decollement structures within the domes. The integration of geology, origin of ore-forming materials and hydrogen and oxygen isotopic compositions shows that the ore-forming materials are derived mainly from the deeper parts, and the ore-forming hydrothermal fluids come from the mixtures of meteoric and metamorphic water. The mineralization of the ore deposit may be traced back to the Yanshanian in general agreement with the regional tectonic-magmatic hydrothermal events. It is concluded that the Heiniudong copper-zine deposit is a moderate-to high-temperature metamorphic hydrothermal ore deposit.
