Sedimentary characteristics and stratigraphic ages of the Dayi conglomerates in Mingshan,Sichuan

The present paper deals,in detail,with the measured section,lithologic associations and sedimentary environments of the Dayi conglomerates in Mingshan,Sichuan.The Dayi conglomerates are interpreted as a succession of proximal fluvial-alluvial deposits above the weathering crust,and display a coarsening-upward sequence.The predominant sporopollen associations Polypodiaceae in the stratigraphic section indicates that chronostratigraphically,the Dayi conglomerates should belong to the Pliocene.
