Geological model for the low-sinuosity meandering river outcrop reservoirs:case studies

    • The low-sinuosity meandering river outcrop reservoirs occur as important oil reservoirs in the S41 oil layer of the Karamay Formation in the central part of the first block, Karamay Oil Field, Xinjiang. A geological model for the low-sinuosity meandering river outcrop reservoirs is presented in the present paper on the basis of hierarchical analysis and configuration analysis, and has proven to be available for the prediction of the internal configurations of the low-sinuosity meandering river outcrop reservoirs developed during the deposition of the S41 oil layer of the Karamay Formation. The construction of the outcrop reservoirs model herein is helpful not only to the modeling of low-sinuosity meandering river deposits, division of single channel and comparative study of interwell sandstones, but also to the delineation of the scales of the channel sandstones, density, dip angles and alignment patterns of the interlayers within the single channels, and prediction of distribution and enrichment of residual oil.
