The source to sink systems and their exploration significance for the 1st and 2nd members of the Palaeogene Shahejie Formation in the middle part of the Bonan low uplift

    • The study of the source to sink systems has become a hot topic in earth sciences at home and abroad. In the present paper, the sandbody-controlling principle of source to sink coupling has been successively applied to the prediction and assessment of the reservoir rocks in the Bohai oil field. With the aid of well logs, seisic data, type and supply capacity of the source rocks, the highlights are concentrated in the study of the type and distribution of valleys or channel geometry and slope break in order to construct the coupling relationship of the source to sink systems and depositional systems in the 1st and 2nd members of the Palaeogene Shahejie Formation in the middle part of the Bonan low uplift. The results of research in this study may be significant for the understanding of basin filling processes and sedimentary system distribution, and thus may offer one useful approach to the prediction of the medium-deep reservoir rocks and oil gas exploration.
