  • The present paper deals with the terminology,type,tectonic setting and genesis of peraluminous granites,with the emphasis on the peraluminous granites in Xizang,southwestern China. The preliminary study demonstrates that the peraluminous granites in Xizang may be assigned to the syncollisional granites,and resulted from collision and mountain building caused by the collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates following the closure of the Neo-Tethyan Ocean.
