  • The analysis of sedimentary organic facies is an effective approach extensively used in the oil and gas exploration in recent years. The present paper focuses on the concepts and classification schemes, and their applications to oil and gas exploration, basin analysis and sequence stratigraphy. The integration of sedimentary organic facies and sequence stratigraphic analysis is expected to have important implications for the assessment of oil and gas resources and prediction of source rocks.
