  • The construction areas along the Western Route Project for Transferring Water from Southern to Northern China are conspicuous by complicated engineering geological conditions, numerous active faults, highly neotectonism and frequent earthquakes.Numerous geological hazards may have important effects on the construction of the project. The emphasis in this study will be on the analysis of the geological hazards such as active faults, earthquakes, frozen earth and deeply-buried long tunnels.Great attention should be paid in the planning of the project so as to lower the risk of the project caused by geological hazards.
