New explanation of the hydrocarbon potential of the Cretaceous strata in the Jiangling depression,Jianghan Basin

The controlling factors for the hydrocarbon accumulation in the Cretaceous strata in the Jiangling depression have long been one of the controversial problems.The new results of exploration obtained from the SK8-16 well has disclosed that the main controlling factors for the hydrocarbon accumulation in the Cretaceous strata in the Jiangling depression include:(1) double controls of hydrocarbon sources and faults;(2) development of reservoir rocks;(3) paulopost conditions of preservation,and(4) favourable models and plays.
