The glacigenous rocks from the Sinian Nantuo Formation in the Xiushui district, Jiangxi

    • The Nantuo Formation strata in the Xiushui district, Jiangxi are regarded as the glacigenous rocks intercalated with the continental shelf and slope deposits. Five types of sedimentary facies have been distinguished:debris flow deposits, slump deposits, ice-rafting and marine facies, mixed shelf sand and mud facies, and shelf mudstone facies. The gravity flow deposits lie in the lowermost part of the Formation. All the deposits may be assigned to the glacigenous rock series overlapped upon a sequence of continental shelf and slope deposits, and record the evolutionary stages in an ascending order, including the precursory glacial stage, interglacial stage, principal glacial stage and residual glacial stage, that may be well compared with those appeared in the adjacent areas.
