  • The great potential of petroleum exploration is expected to the 1st and 2nd members of the Shahejie Formation in No. 428 uplifted area,Bohai Sea. According to thin section examination and seismic data, the planar distribution and controlling factors are discussed for the 1st and 2nd members of the Shahejie Formation in which the fan delta facies, lacustrine facies and mixed facies are discriminated. The controlling factors of the sedimentary systems include the provenance systems which put the development of the sandstones under controll, synsedimentary faults which depend on the planar distribution of the sandstones, and palaeotopography which localizes the organic banks and/or bioclastic banks in the study area.
